Christmas tree light switch-ons in Sandwell


Christmas is just around the corner and people in Sandwell can get in the festive spirit with Christmas tree light switch-ons which get underway this week and next.

Wednesday 24 November
Council House, High Street, Smethwick B66 3NT
Event runs from 6pm-7pm
Tree switch-on with mulled apple juice, mince pies, samosas and drinks with musical entertainment from SHAPE winner Holly Aston-Baugh.

Thursday 25 November
Kings Head Clock, Adkins Lane, Bearwood B67 5DP
Event runs from 6pm-7pm
Tree switch-on with carols, mince pies and drinks.

Friday 26 November
Unity Walk, Owen Street, Tipton DY4 8EZ
Event runs from 2.30pm-7pm
Tree switch-on with stalls and entertainment and Santa.

Friday 26 November
Upper High Street, Wednesbury WS10 7HF
Event starts at 6pm
Tree switch-on with stage and singers, fair rides and stalls. Food and drink.

Friday 3 December
Church Road, Oldbury, (outside Sandwell Council House) B69 2AB
Event runs from 6pm-8pm
Tree switch-on with stage, choir, singers, roving entertainers, food and drink from stall holders and Santa.

Friday 3 December
Crankhall Lane, Wednesbury WS10 0ED
Event starts at 5pm.
Tree switch on with entertainment, stalls and Santa.
Crankhall Lane will be closed between Manor Road and Freeman Road. Traffic will be diverted via Manor Road and Freeman Road.

Sandwell Council deputy leader, Councillor Maria Crompton, said: “We’re glad that we’ve been able to bring back some of our Christmas light switch-on events.

“These events help to support our town centre businesses and traders who have been there for us throughout the pandemic.

Councillor Danny Millard, cabinet member for culture and tourism, added: “We hope that families come along to the events and enjoy starting to get into the Christmas mood.”
